The Teaching of Don Juan as the Basis of New Information Technologies

Before startingfor the knowledge look into your
heart and try to understand why you need it…

Sometimes meeting of different systems of the world-view raises wonderful by their force and significance phenomena, touching not only society with all its levels, structures and hierarchies, but also each person in all one's multisidedness. To the most bright of them we can undoubtedly refer the works of Carlos Castaneda.

Being a student of Los-Angeles University Castaneda meets Don Juan and becomes his student in the course of time. Don Juan, being a bearer of the ancient magic tradition, has unique knowledge on the nature of animals, plants, organization and structure of the inner world of a human, his role and place in the wonderful, magic and incomprehensible world, which is completely different from how we are accustomed to apprehend it.

The conceptual approach of Castaneda, reflected in his numerous books, includes, on the one hand, the teaching on the structure of reality, specificity of its perception by the human, and, on the other hand — the trial to comprehend this specificity
rationally, as well as the description of methods, ways and procedures, that allow getting beyond the boundaries of traditionally accepted stereotypes of perception of reality, and to see the world as it is.

The creator of the world, which we know as stable and definitive, is the tonal, using the inner dialogue for the purpose. One of the ways to stop the inner dialogue is apprehension of the vision as the process. Usually the focused glance is running
from object to object, quite subconsciously bringing the world into accordance with its description with the help of inner dialogue. Thus, realizing of inner  ialogue and its further stop are the important means of destruction of the habitual vision of the world and, as a result, exit beyond the frames of the formed stereotypes.

The question arises unwittingly, how to preserve the reason, capability to adequately perceive the going on and act accordingly, if at some moment the world, how we know it, vanishes?

The answer, given by the author, is obvious: it's necessary to follow the path of the Warrior. The man, following this path, first of all, must try to apprehend all going on as something given, having left aside self-indulgence and importance of himself. This is humbleness but not resignation, as the Warrior takes everything for the challenge, to which he must answer most effectively. His behavior is invulnerable, and the decisions are so thorough, that no events are able to upset his balance. The
Warrior always takes the responsibility for his actions, being thus free, seeking for not definiteness in the eyes of the surrounding, but invulnerability among the traps of the world.

The Warrior thinks strategically, correlating his thoughts and actions with the end of his life path, choosing thus for his advisor his death. And in this sense the Warrior is allegedly dead — he has nothing to lose. He doesn't expect awards for himself and,  whatever happens he acts as if nothing has happened. Moreover, he leaves the freedom of actions and choice for others, taking them for as invulnerable as he himself.

The secret of the Warrior is that he believes without belief, gains the foot-hold in supportlessness. It's especially important, when we face the breach of the habitual way of life, settled cause and effect relationships, when the habitual world is scattered right before our eyes.

The Warrior comes into the unknown easily, freely, fully trusting himself and the world, which he takes as something beautiful, wonderful, and in principle incognizable.

There are a lot of paths in this life, but they all come either to studies, or to entertainment. The Warrior is permanently studying. And for studies the most important thing is the desire to change, to destroy the formed stereotypes of perception, and the personal force is both the purpose and the means in this wonderful process of inner change.

What can the Warrior take with himself, dying? Only his experience and personal force — and in this sense there is no difference between dream and being awake. Having obtained the body of the dream, the Warrior is studying twenty-four hours per day, acquiring ability to impact the day reality being in the dream and vice versa.

The most important element of the knowledge of magicians is the notion of the tonal and the nagval. The human, according to Don Juan's teaching, starts to create the world of the tonal beginning with the moment of his birth and lives in it all his life. The tonal is everything, for which the words exist, everything, which the eye meets and the consciousness adapts with the help of inner dialogue. The eyes, accustomed by the tonal, cling to the sense and see only what the tonal offers. The tonal brings the chaos of the world in order, it is the organizer of the world, the arranged reflection of the undescribed, the magic, the unknown.

The tonal is not homogeneous and can conditionally be divided into two components: the one, connected with outer action, and the inner, connected with judgements and decision-taking. But in the course of time the individual tonal has the tendency to turn from a wise preserver into a limited and gloomy guard. In this sense the essence of optimization of the tonal lies in realization in practice the principle of unity of the thought, the word, the feeling and the action.

Beside the world of the tonal there is the world of the nagval. The nagval is something, for which we have no description, no words, no name, no sensible feelings, no rational knowledge. It is possible to witness the nagval, but it is impossible to speak of it. Manifestations of the nagval are perceived by the body, but not by the reason. Moreover, any trial of rational explanation has no least sense. In the world of the tonal they speak, interpret and take decisions. In the world of the nagval they act.

The tonal is like the table, covered by familiar things and standing in the center of the mountain valley, and it is nice and dear to us together with these things. On the other and the nagval is as incomparable with the tonal as the mentioned table with surrounding it mountain ridge. The man easily remembers and identifies everything standing on the table, but he is absolutely not able to remember what surrounds that table (the alike phenomenon takes place, when there is no connection between the day and the night consciousness). That is why to comprehend the teaching of the nagval, it is necessary to clean the "table" and to prepare the tonal for meeting the nagval.

Being the summit, the teaching of the tonal and the nagval is easily understood only for the student, who has become the Warrior and gone far enough on the path of knowledge. Moreover, when the student turns out to be prepared and opens for
this teaching, it strikes a blow, from which there is no defence.
